Spago Italian Restaurant Ubon Ratchathani Thailand.

The other month, my mate Memock from Life in Rural Thailand who lives in Australia and Thailand as has homes in both. He had returned to Isaan territory for a short and sweet visit and that meant going out for a beer and a good feed as well.

I had forgotten about these pictures, I don’t know how as the food was bloody good as always. Above is the bruschetta from Spago, Ubon Ratchathani’s authentic Italian restaurant. Franco is a mate but I am not biased and the food is bloody good.

I am sorry for the quality of the pictures as they are from my iPhone and in poor light but I have touched them up a little with Photoshop. Franco is great, this above was a starter he did for us and it was eaten with gusto.

What was new, were these! A pickled pepper that isn’t spicy and filled with goats cheese (Franco if you see this and I am wrong please tell me as it has been a long time), these were absolutely scrumptious I tell you. The cheese and the tang of the pickled pickle, bellissimo (I think that is Italian).

My mate can be a bit of a woman, no pun intended. He changed his mind so many times before ordering what is my favourite pizza from Spago’s, the calzone or ripieno. I had never had one until dining with Franco.

I had had gnocchi with Italian sausages before and this was superb but Franco didn’t have any gnocchi but said he would do it with spaghetti and it was great.

We had a couple of beers and my mate had 7 or 8 wines and it was a good few hours.

I have said it before and will again. If you feel like a very good feed, then don’t go past Spago. You will not be disappointed.

7 or 8 wines you exaggerating bugger! It was a good feed that's for sure.

Well it seemed like that as you were knocking them back, but they were only half glasses, so it isn't so bad.

More impressive was the 6 Dark Beer Laos you drank after :)

You have a rather vivid imagination Mr Brunty! I must admit that they did run out while we were there though, although perhaps you don't remember that! ;)

Maybe but it makes much more interesting reading. It was funny when you rode off doing a wheelie though :)
