Cola the White Rabbit, Isaan Thailand.

Baby Cola
This was the day Cola the white rabbit was one day old, way back on December 13th 2007. My mate who had rabbits had given two rabbits from the previous kit and both died, they were called Latte and Mocha, then this kit came along and we took two more. They were called Cola and Pepsi. Pepsi didn’t live so long dying one night.
Nong Ja and Cola
Cola, pictured above with Ja has passed away. On Thursday the 9th of December I came home from school and he was fine. A few hours later he was lying still on the floor as if asleep. He hadn’t been long dead when I found him as he was still warm and limp. There was no hint of him being unwell; it looked as though he died in his sleep.

I am not sure if he even knew he was a rabbit, he was spoiled and treated more like a human I suppose. He had a bed and his own room but had free range of the entire house. He ate very well, fresh vegetables and top rabbit pellets for his food. Was brushed and petted often and Ja and him spent plenty of time together while she watched her cartoons.
Cola the White Rabbit
I had to get Cola a blow up friend as he was showing signs of wanting to share his love, he would circle you sometimes, this was a rabbit’s way before mounting and going hammer and tong. At Tesco they had these blow up rabbits and Cola loved his. We went through a couple as they got plenty of use. I buried his most recent with him to keep him happy in rabbit heaven or wherever he is.
Cola and Panda Thai Rabbits
I did at one stage rescue a very skinny rabbit from Noot’s village and we named Panda as she was black and white. She quickly fattened up and before long Cola had made her pregnant and fathered six healthy babies.

And not too long after this he got her pregnant again and another 6 rabbits in the kit, this time there was a tiny runt that didn’t live too long, but the other 5 grew strong. We moved Panda back out to the village in the care of Noot’s mum and she is still going well.

So he was just short of his 3rd birthday when he passed away, it seemed a lot longer than that but I am sure he had a good life, much better than he would have had with any other person. I wish he had more years with us but this is life and we never know when our time is up.

So to my mate Cola, we will miss you (Ja keeps asking where he is) and wherever you have gone hope you are making heaps of babies champ.

Hey Brunty,
This is Jon from Hawaii up in Nakhom Phanom. I'm very sorry to hear about your pet Rabbit Cola. Even though people may think of them as just animals, we grow attached to them like family and thus when they pass away, it feels like a close family member passing away.

Take Care,
Jon

Jon, I missed you. I see you were in Ubon..... man would have loved to have met up....

Maybe in the near future my friend.

It does hurt when losing a pet as some of us they become more than just an animal, but as you said part of the family.

Anon, thanks for dropping by. He was loved a lot.
