Peppers Bakery and Cafe Pizza, Ubon Ratchathani Thailand.

Tonight we felt like something different for dinner so we ventured off to Peppers Bakery & Café, here in sleepy Ubon Ratchathani. The business was opened by an Aussie and a Kiwi (now isn’t that a mix and a half there) with of course their Thai wives. Peppers is the purple marker.

Peppers Bakery & Cafe Ubon Thailand
The shop has steadily grown in popularity, and all the hard work of the owners is paying off I think. I have spoken to expats and Thais who have been to Peppers and their views on the food are always very good.
Peppers Bakery Dining
The dining area is always spotless, and the great thing is there isn’t music blaring at levels where you cannot speak to your partner or friend. So many Thai businesses think music blaring is good for business. The amount of times I have walked into a restaurant, sat down and a few seconds later music starts at crazy levels, and when you ask for it to be turned off or well down, they look at you like you are a little crazy.

If you have been to Thailand, you probably know what I am talking about. Large supermarket retailers here like Big C and Tesco Lotus often have sales staff that are marketing sales specials and to get people’s attention have music blaring. It is pretty insane to me. An electronics shop not far from my school has a huge sound system set up out the front every day, music blares out like it was a disco or nightclub and not a place of business.
Peppers Bakery Couch
At the front of the shop is a huge couch or sofa, so a group of you can relax in while having a coffee and cake.
Peppers Bakery Bread & Pastries
It’s called a bakery, well because they make really good bread and pastries there. The pastries have mostly run out as it is late evening.
Peppers Bakery Cakes
This is my favourite cabinet or display case, full of cakes made on the premises.
Peppers Bakery White Chocolate Cake
This is a delicious looking white chocolate cake.
Peppers Bakery Chocolate Balls
These are so good, chocolate balls. They come in white chocolate or normal with almonds or cashews.
Peppers Bakery Strawberry Cake
Strawberry cheese cake, Miss Noot and Miss Bejawan chose 4 pieces of cake before we left, I only chose one box of cashew chocolate balls. I don’t think I will get to try any of the cake as I could be beaten up if I do.
Peppers Bakery Pizza
We hadn’t ventured to Peppers for just the cakes, we were having pizza. Peppers extended the trading hours a little while ago by adding a pizza menu. I am a fan as it is great pizza, much better-quality than the Thai outlets and also cheaper. We ordered a half and half, BBQ Chicken and Meat Lovers.
Peppers Bakery Garlic Bread
Peppers garlic bread hot and tasty.
Peppers Bakery Homemade Chicken Nuggets
These are homemade chicken nuggets and crispy chips. Miss Noot and Ben had never had the nuggets or pizza and it was funny hearing them saying how good they tasted and how much better the pizza was than Pizza Company and the nuggets better than KFC. This was all of course in Thai and Laos language. Pizza Seb Bor, Seb elee, Gai Seb ..
Miss Noot & Miss Ben
Miss Ben and Noot tucked into the food, and I quickly joined them as I cannot explain how good the pizza smelt, nothing like pizza fresh out of the oven.

Andrew one of the owners, the Aussie, has just added real Australia steaks to his menu, if you want a steak, probably the only place that sells a real steak, then Peppers in the place to go. When Ben the kiwi returns, maybe he will add real lamb chops or something along those lines to do with sheep. (Just joking any NZ readers, Michael)

So if you are in Ubon or travelling to Ubon try Peppers as you should not be displeased. Andrew is open to very honest and truthful reviews as the business is still young and any feedback helps him fine tune the menu.

Don't worry about this being biased, I am friends with Andrew, but would never send my readers or recommend readers to a place or a product, if I thought it was crap.

I was offered $50 US dollars the other day to do a review on a product. I am always open for this but I always tell the companies I will do a truthful review and also disclose it is a paid review, I won't bullshit my readers.

They offered me a 1 day trial of their product, but I said I needed at least 3 days. This was agreed and then after the time was up I told them I couldn't do a review that they would like as the product to me was not to a standard that I could recommend to my readers to buy and use. It was a VPN provider service.

So the recommendation is honest and if you go there and you have something that isn’t up to your standards, please let Andrew know or Ben and also drop me a line.

I ate here a few nights ago also.

Food is excellent, pizza best I had in Thailand and the cheesecake.....make sure you ask for a tub of cream on the side. Outstanding.

Wish they could deliver to where I live.

Hi Anon, good to hear you had a good meal as well. A tub of cream on the side, my god that is a great idea but Miss Noot would kill me or steal the cream. It is hard enough getting the cake.

This is Thailand, anything is possible... :)
