The other day sitting at home I heard a bit of commotion out the front of the house. Out in the lane a group of council workers had gathered on Mother’s Day. Even though this is a public holiday these guys and gals only get 2 days a month off and this wasn’t one of them.
When I went out earlier in the day I noticed a group of 4 or 5 in a small street but didn’t take that much notice of what they were doing. They were a jovial bunch indeed. The number was at least 20 and growing every minute as more walked into the lane.
This guy was a character and I am 100% sure pretty well pissed or well and truly on his way. He asked where I come from and then started nominating places. Even when I said Australia, he kept saying America, England and other places I couldn’t understand.
The gang was so happy even though it was a holiday and they were working.
These two girls looked very happy indeed. I don’t know if it was the camera pointed at them or because they get to sit in the back of the truck with the mud.
The only person really working at of all the people was this guy.
The man was working away in the manhole, while the others supervised.
And what was he scooping out of the manhole, mud and silt. The workers had been going through all the streets cleaning out the drains all day.
A great way to spend a holiday, for sure.
