Her formal name and title is Somdet Phra Nang Chao Sirikit Phra Borommarachininat สมเด็จพระนางเจ้าสิริกิติ์ พระบรมราชินีนาถ; "Her Majesty Queen Regent Sirikit"). However, officially her title is just Queen Sirikit.
Today is a public holiday across Thailand and millions of people will travel far and wide to see their mothers and pay respect to them.
Temple ceremonies are held across Thailand and for the first year I didn’t attend with Miss Noot at the village as I had a lot of work to do at home.
Miss Noot and Ben went to the village last night to be with their mum, this morning they would have risen early and gone to the temple to make merit. Then it would be a day of eating, eating and sleeping.
I instead cleaned the house, removed cobwebs and brushed down the walls. Then dusted and started to vacuum, until the vacuum blew up! I resorted to a straw broom and then mopped all the floors. I removed all the fly wire screens and dusted them off. Then the bathroom was attacked.
I am now resting for an hour before attacking the rabbit’s room. I want to sort the storage out above the clothes cabinets. And then there is my computer desk, I need a good filing system I end up with paperwork everywhere.
Anyway, I need to run and finish my cleaning off. Need to stay on a roll.
So happy Birthday to Queen Sirikit and I wish you a long life and Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers, be them Thai or from anywhere in the world.
Brunty
