Brunty,
Are these floats handmade from scratch? If so, Wow, those are almost works of art. Incredibly intricate and expressive.
Beautiful night pictures, too.
Makes me even more motivated to visit Ubon. It's been on my immediate list and so I should be there late this year.

Great photos.
I really can't get over the level of detail and how beautiful the work is.
Looks like I have another thing to add to the list. I really hope to see this in person next year.
Yes they are Rick, they usually start with a chicken wire mould that they plaster the wire and then add the wax.
The large floats take nearly teh whole year to construct.
Let me know if you come to Ubon, be good to meet you.
Anon, some of the details are amazing, the workmanship is so beautiful.
I also appreciate the small floats and the villagers who make an effort with their floats.
The huge floats cost up to 500,000 Thai baht to make.
It is definatley something to witness in person once.
500,000 Thai baht that's a crazy amount of money to spend but very impressive non the least i just think about much better ways to spend that money on helping the poor out would be my choice
