Yesterday a friend of mine was venturing to a local tattooist to have his first tattoo done. The guys

Another foreigner had used this tattooist before and the tattoo was very good quality. The stall is basic with a few seats and that is about it. There isn’t a couch or air-conditioning or those sorts of mod cons available.

The tattooist I have used here in Thailand has disappeared. His shop seems to still be where it used to be but is never open. I have one tattoo I want finished and three more to be done. Here my mate looks a little unsure if this is hurting or not.

Here my mate gives the thumbs up signal, no worries mate. Tattoos don’t hurt too much. They aren’t completely painless but they also aren’t torturous either. I have one going on the inside of my bicep and my friend who has many, many tattoos told me that this does hurt like absolute hell. I am looking forward to this.

Originally my mate was told the tattoo would be a few hours, well it took a little longer than that. It was 4 hours and here he is very close to finally being able to stand up and stretch.

The finished product, he is a Chelsea Football Club fan and has been all his life. Now he has branded himself he can never change teams. The tattoo was unbelievably cheap. The price was 500 Thai Baht or say around $20 Australian dollars. This is insane to me.
He quoted one of my tattoos at 270 Thai Baht, I couldn’t believe this. It is Japanese Kanji and will take around 3 hours to complete. I told him I would pay him 350 baht for it and will probably give him a little more.
I haven’t had the large tattoo I want done quoted yet, it will cover most of my back and be 40 plus hours to complete. The main reason is Miss Noot is very adamant that she doesn’t want me to get this tattoo as it is so big.
I told her not to worry as know one can see it unless I have my shirt off, which is hardly ever. So I will get the other 3 done in the meantime and keep working on Miss Noot for the masterpiece I want done.
I could always go and get it started and then say, “I can’t leave it like this as it looks stupid if it isn’t finished, doesn’t it?” I will just have to play this one by ear and keep asking and asking until she finally gives in.

Brunty, before you go getting anything Japanese/Chinese tattooed, you might want to run it by these guys first:

good luck!
hi brunty, perhaps you would like to try a temple sak yant tatoo. they stick it in with "arrows" about a meter long. mine is surapen, rampaging tiger, and is very nice. plus it provides protection against penetrative objects such as bullets and knives. allbest. AI
Hi Don, it was a good job and value for money to boot but no Yorkshire in him. I hope the inks are good and do last or it will mean touch ups.
MJ, I have some good Japanese friends from my trips there. I sent them the writing and they then checked it was correct.
I have friends who have Chinese and Japanese tattoos that are incorrect because of the smallest strokes or dots.
Al, temple tattoos I have seen them getting applied but don't know if this is for me. Your tattoo sounds like a ripper.
As for protection against bullets I am happy if you believe this. I personally wouldn't be so sure.
i have planned to have a new tattoo and a sak yant tattoo would be truly different
i have a friend in the UK in the armed response teams maybe i should get him out to Thailand next holidays the police must sweat like pigs honk honk in those stab vests
Hey guys; can you post photos of your tattoos/ideas?
I am curious to see them.
