About midday, Miss Noot and I went and bought the provisions came home and marinated the meat and got some salad ready. Miss Noot had also bought some ingredients for some Thai dishes of course.

I lit the coal for the BBQ and waited for it to burn down and then Miss Noot and her friend Jane started cooking the chicken legs and thighs as these always take longest to cook. The fan was out as it has really warmed up here in Isaan of late.

There was also marinated pork ribs and pepper steak. The steak was too chewy, again. Even though I had tenderized it and marinated it for 6 hours. I have tried different cuts of local beef but all has been pretty crap. To but beef imported from the shopping centre is a little expensive. At least I know if I buy Australian fillet steak it will be easy to eat and taste great too. The cost I can wear.

This is garlic and pepper steak and marinated pork. The pork was succulent and my favourite for the night.

When the coals had burnt down the steak, pork and hotdogs went onto the griller.

The Thai girls were enjoying themselves, they had plenty of food and Noot had made homemade Kanom Jeen sauce from fermented fish. This was being gobbled up.
The night was fun, a good way to relax and chat with mates. Only one of us drunk alcohol, the rest of us were on water and soft drinks. Back in Australia you try this and would end up tied to a tree stark naked J
We have had our beautiful little niece Nong Ja with us for the last 3 days. It is always enjoyable to have her and we love her so much. It is amazing how tiring looking after a small baby can be.
Ja is a great baby luckily, hardly ever cries or throws tantrums, sleeps through the night and eats any food you dish up for her. She is an early bird and this means when she is ready for her midmorning or afternoon nap we are usually ready for one too.

Here Miss Noot and Ja are happily asleep in the front bedroom. This is Ben’s room and is much cooler than our room in the daytime as the sun doesn’t shine onto it directly.
It has really warmed up the last few days; the hot season is coming quickly. Miss Noot has even had the air conditioner going for her and Ja’s daytime sleep of late. This month’s electricity bill might hit 1,300 plus Baht or $50 odd Australian dollars. This is still cheap compared to back home. In winter or the cold season our bill is between 600-700 Baht.
Not much else to report, have to cut and edit a heap of video from the Songkran Water Festival, upload some music to it and then will put it onto the site. Hope this will be done by the end of next week.

looks like another great time, Brunty. this time though, when reading, i wasn't hungry. that's a necessary precaution!
i'm taking a break from drinking so i would have been on the non-alcoholic stuff too.
Brunty , Looks like a great party , to bad you're so far away would have loved to have joined you . But like you and Miss Noot we have been busy entertaining guest and folks who I think are relatives , that just show up , gets a bit tireing, but thank god it only comes once a year. Glad you had a good time , I know we sure did . looking foward to all the pictures and movies too.
By the way to make beef and any other meat more tender ,take the seeds of a ripe papaya and crush them to a pulp, and add some ripe flesh of the papaya and crush together , give your meat ( for bar-b-queing ) a good rub and let it sit in frige for a hour and then take out and wash , and season it to your taste and throw it on the grill cook it real slow, and low heat, , will melt in your mouth. THATS THE WAY YOU DO IT ,MONEY FOR NOTHING AND YOUR KICKS FOR FREE. Malcolm
Love the identical sleeping positions!
Just got back today. Next few weeks is going to be a nightmare but I look forward to filling you in on why very soon when we finally get to meet up!
No more news on houses? I hope to start searching in the next few days.
It's so cute that they are sleeping in the same position! Can't wait for warm weather here!
MJ it was a good time, I often get to read your blog late at night and many times I have felt like opening the fridge and searching for food.
Off the alcohol, what is the reason?
Malcom, I wish we were closer so you could have come, thanks for the info on the papaya seeds I will give it a try this week.
Andrew, good to hear you are back in the LOS. I haven;t heard a lot so maybe people are away. I will ask again tomorrow and see if any new leads.
