Still Walking the Walk, Isaan Thailand.

As you know from a few weeks back I have started to exercise as I was a fat bastard and had hurt my back. I started following the Couch to 5k programme, the original site for this was called Cool Running but this is in yards and miles. Thankfully a guy has converted this all to the metric system at Cairns Communications. To make running easier I download podcasts to the programmes from a guy called Robert Ullrey.

The great and easy thing about this programme is it eases you back into running; the first few weeks are really easy. The programme is set to be done three times a week. I have been a little naughty as I have done it every day.

I have just completed week 2 today. That meant weigh in day again. I started at 105.3kg and after a week weighed in at 103kgs on the dot. Today I weighed in at 100.1kgs

Of course the weight comes off easy to start with, the hard yards will come a lot later after I have lost some of the spare tyre I am carrying. I haven’t been crash dieting or anything stupid. The biggest change is no sodas, no cakes, ice cream and snacks.

The good news is I am still eating really well, but now healthier. I am eating heaps of fruit again and drinking heaps of water. My meal sizes are still big; I am not starving myself.

I am very happy with my progress to date and tomorrow will bring on week 3. It is another small set-up in the running efforts but still very easy. I am actually looking forward to it.

Week 3
Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then do two repetitions of the following:
Jog 200 metres (or 90 seconds)
Walk 200 metres (or 90 seconds)
Jog 400 metres (or 3 minutes)
Walk 400 metres (or three minutes)

Hey Brunty,

Good for you! Cool Running's Couch to 5K program is awesome. It's what I used to start running again in 2006 and I've been steady with it ever since. I love running, although I've noticed more aches and pains over the last couple of years. However, it's one of those things you never forget. There's nothing better than that runner's high. Good for you!

Andrew, thanks. It has been pretty easy as I had plenty of fat to lose and still do. The best thing about it all is eating better quality and healthy food.

Hi Carrie, I have been following your blog, and you have been doing so much. I love your new layout and as always photos and stories are excellent. I am happy to know that you were a couch potato. I have lots of those aches and pains. I have to be getting old, i think. I love the feeling while running and how I feel after it.

Hi Jay. I am just plodding away slowly mate. Not doing anything silly.

Mj my ugly mug will never change my friend. I could be a little slimmer but the ugly noggin will be the same.
