The first two rabbits I had were called Mocha and Latte. Mocha sadly died not long after we brought them into our family. Latte lived for around 6 months before also suddenly getting sick and after having him at the vets and injections I sat with him early in the early hours of the morning but sadly he passed away.

Cola and hsi brother Pepsi were born on the 13th of December 2008, he is now over a year old and hasn’t been sick once. The only time he has been to the vet was when I cut his toenail too short and he was bleeding badly, cutting a rabbits nails can be a horrifying experience until you master it. It took a movie off YouTube that a rabbit carer had uploaded showing the “correct technique.” Now that Cola is so used to being handled it is so easy cutting his nails. Oh, touch wood that Cola stays healthy and doesn’t get sick.

Now that Cola is a big boy he is starting to act more like a male rabbit and not like a little kid. He defends his bedroom. Yes, he has his own bedroom. When I go in and clean he will bite the broom, also he bites the scoop I use to clean his litter tray.
He has also given Noot a few love nibbles, not bites as if he bit she would really know it. He circles you when he starts his courtship behaviour which is always funny as he goes round and round.

He stamps his feet when he thinks something isn’t right, some noises from outside that aren’t the usual. He clicks his teeth when being petted and held upside down. Also he loves being combed.
He now thinks he is the top rabbit as I am always grooming him. If I lay on the ground he will hop on top of me as if to show he is the boss. We also have boxing matches. I use some wind chimes and dangle them in his face, he stands up on his back legs and lets rip with his front paws, He’s not a bad boxer.

He bunches or pulls towels, bed sheets and anything else his teeth can get hold of. He marks his territory by chinning; he has scent glands that leave his mark. It thankfully is undetectable to us humans.

He comes to me when he wants to be groomed, often he will come and nudge me.
He licks me, I used to be scared he was going to bite but it is just a wet lick. He has never bitten me, a few love nibbles is all.

The funniest thing of late is his new girlfriend. His new girlfriend is a pink balloon in the shape of a love heart. He circles it and pushes it all across the house. He mounts it and tries to do you know what to it. I have toys for him to do that to, but the balloon is all he wants.

All the courtship has worn him out.

So the last few days have been entertaining. I am thinking of having him neutered over the holidays so this behaviour will stop. I know this is a little cruel but I am never thinking of breeding him, even though he is a really good looking rabbit. One rabbit is enough. Also hoping he lives to a ripe old rabbit age.
Brunty.

We love bunnies, too.
They have wonderful personalities and are quite loyal beings.
We've had Lily, our mini rex, for over three years and its been a joy even though she can be hell if she wishes to. :)
Hi Amy, they do have wonderful personalities and traits. They are very loyal indeed.
It is great to see you have had Lily for that long. I was getting really jaded when I had lost 3 rabbits for no reason that could be found.
I hope to have Cola for many years, he too can be very moody when he wants.
He knows in his room he can chew anything in there but the rest of the house is a no, no. At times he really tests you with this. You raise your voice and say his name and he stops, for a few seconds.
Thanks for commenting.
he looks a lot bigger in person i think!
He is a lot bigger in person. He is growing into a large rabbit. I am glad I only have one as he eats well.
