Thai school popularity contest, Isaan Thailand.

At our school Christmas festival, the little kids had been on the stage in the popularity contest. Now the older students would have their turn. The outfits and styles obviously change as they get older and their mum and dad don’t dress them.
Very fashionable
The students from year 4 to year 12 would now hit the stage. This is a year 3 student looking very fashionable.
Thai outfit
This is a year 4 boy in a really beautiful traditional Thai outfit. The pants always look uncomfortable to me as they wrap under your crotch and looks like you are getting a wedgie.
Interesting outfit.
Some outfits were on the brink of being very wrong. This is a year 5 girl. She was dancing in a show later but a very risqué outfit.
Casual and hip
Here are some year 6 girls in casual clothes looking cool.
Casual kids
Looking casual and hip.
Very smooth
This year 8 boy was looking really smooth. What an outfit.

A girl in an exquisite Thai outfit, taking some flowers offered to her.
black and white
This very fashionable looking girl was receiving lots of support.
Fashion central
As I said, the fashion changes with the older students.
Awsome leg warmers
This girl had some really fashionable leg warmers.
Pretty in purple
This girl was in white boots, purple dress and a tiara.
Polar bear
A year 12 boy dressed as a polar bear.
Grunge boys
The older boys went for the grunge look I suppose you would call it.
Two beautiful girls
Two beautiful girls dressed to the nines.
Big, happy and beautiful
And she looks amazing in her outfit as well.
What a pose. Miss Photogenic.
What a pose. She is photogenic.
Red and white
And another Christmas inspired outfit.
Lots of flowers
This year 10 boy had a bank vault worth of flowers to try and hold. He was very popular.
Really adorable
This is a year 4 girl. She looked adorable in her Christmas outfit.
That's fashion
Now this is a fashion statement. This is a year 10 girl who knows how to look trendy.
3 boys and a girl
Now, here is a competition. These are 4 lovely boys. But one is really a beautiful girl. Can you pick which one is the girl? I will wait a week before announcing the answer.

So that is just a few more pictures from our Christmas festival. There are still plenty more to come and also announce the winners of the popularity contest. I know you are all so excited to find out the winners and when I reveal who is really a girl. It is pretty easy to choose, I know.

the girl beside her is also wearing a traditional Thai outfit, as being slutty is just as traditional, unfortunately.

:) MJ, so true. Thais just don't see it like that. I still shake my head when I see small kids who have been dressed like 20 year old red light workers by their parents.

Reading your recent posts on ladyboys etc, it is bizarre what is happening in Thailand. Where has their natural modesty and dignity gone?

That other cultural thread, mai pen rai, or 'what the hell!' has kicked in too strongly and allowed things to get out of control. And this is an ordinary provincial town!

When Thais bemoan falling standards they tend to blame it on western influence but that's a trap. It's their own mass media and the failure of those in charge, including schools, to take a stand on anything.
