Children's Day 2009 Isaan Thailand.

Boys and fire
On Friday just gone, we had Children’s Day. In the morning students had to study as usual, but from lunchtime on it was party time. These boys are trying to get some wood coal burning.
Funny frisbies
These two boys had some out of space Frisbees; these are really the grilling tops to cook the meat and vegetables.
Ready to cook
Finally some students were about to start grilling. It was very cool outside, a really chilly and fresh wind was blowing.
Year 1 students party
Inside some of the classrooms other classes were in party mode. This is a year 1 class eating whatever their parents had brought in for them.
Year 1 students party
This is another year 1 class, they were still opening their presents. Each class does a lucky dip for a classmates name and then buys them a present. It was funny seeing the excitement on the littlies faces when their names were called out.
Year 2 students
Here year 2 students have plenty of food on offer.
Pasta party
These kids had some homemade pasta to enjoy.
Waiting for food
These girls were really happy even though they were still waiting for most of the food to be dished up and arrive.
Pizza and KFC
Some parents were really nice and had bought in pizza and KFC.
Happy girls
Look at the smiling and happy faces.
Year 7 boys
These elder year 7 boys had blocked the hallway; they were enjoying their food outside the classroom.
Year 7 girls
These years 7 girls were also outside and happy. They were counting money and deciding what to go and buy.
Chicken and chips
Some year 8 boys had a heap of chicken and chips to eat. All had been cooked by parents.
Older students
These are a lot of the older kids gathering in the courtyard.
Grilling party
Here some girls have started to grill the meat and add the vegetables.
Happy girls, food and talking
These girls were very happy, conversation, food and drink.
Happy guys chilling
Some older boys chilling out near the grill.
Fire central
And this was fire central. Your fire needed a top up of red hot coals this was the palce to go.

That was Wan Dek 2009 in Isaan Thailand.

I am a lucky man. With our set holidays, public holidays and then whatever the school does in between I would truthfully have at least 13 weeks a year off.

I am not complaining!!
