Sorry, this is a rant I just had to get off my chest. I need to stop reading so many international news stories.
This is what is wrong with the world. Why I never want to visit Saudi Arabia or any other country that supports child brides. It is disgraceful and sickening that these countries are so backward and uneducated to not know that a girl who is only 8 and a man who is 50 years older, should never be allowed to be married in the first place.
This is what happened. A husband and wife had a baby daughter. Their marriage splits up and the father sells their daughter off unbeknown to the mother. He sells her to erase debt of $11,000 Australian dollars.
The girl’s mother filed for divorce for the 8 year old girl but this sick mother fuc#er of a husband considers the marriage legal and so do the courts. A judge has failed to rule at this time wanting the mother and her daughter’s husband to come to a compromise.
During the first hearing on the matter, the husband refused to allow the dissolution of the marriage, arguing it had not yet been consummated.
So this piece of crap wants to have sex with an eight year old girl. It is absolutely disgusting. This man should be hung for even wanting to consummate the marriage.
This is all legal in Saudi Arabia. It is sick, immoral and wrong. I have read many things about Middle Eastern countries that have always made me look at the men there in an appalling way, but now it just enforces this more.
I am sure it isn’t all men but the countries in themselves that allow these laws to stand, that disgust me. How any foreign countries can invest and support infrastructure in countries that have such laws is ludicrous. They should be sanctioned against, oh, that’s right. These Middle Eastern countries control the very precious liquid gold and also have so much money to invest abroad. It is amazing how so called first world countries will rape themselves in the name of money. It is disgusting.
That’s my rave, anyway. Story here.

Unfortunatelly, 6 months ago I met in a market at a village near Nang Rong, a thai girl 17 years old with her falang husbant 54 years old!!! Believe me I didn't like this neither...
You're right. It's disgusting. I'm not going to rant on this topic.. but I believe the only way to really change the mindset that makes such things acceptable is to not participate. If you see things around you (and there *are* signs of those attitudes coming to Thailand.. the increase in commercialism and predatory capitalism), it's time to say something and, most importantly, don't be a part of it.

Hi Sales, yes here in Thailand if parents agree then girls can be married under the age of consent, Really wrong. I know of a 14 year old girl pregnant to a 22 year old. They are getting married. 17 to 54 years old is just too big a difference. I wonder if he really thinks she loves him??
Thailandchani, if the law was strict and couldn't be negoitated here in Thailand, this would be a good start in stopping predators.
Look at Pattaya, I don't go there much anymore, it makes me depressed seeing all the desperate people there. I can thruthfully say I had a women of about 50 plus offer me the services of a very young girl once, it was so sad and sickening to see. I wanted to clock the old bag but it would have done no good at all. The police are piss weak in Pattaya and other places. They need to stop turning a blind eye.

the first time i heard about it i was shocked but Asia and Thailand do not conform to what would seem normal in the west sorry to say money talks and bullshit walks in Asia and anywhere poverty is present it makes me sick to my stomach but what can any of us do to change it
