Thailand. Foreigner murdered for his life insurance.
This isn’t the first time that this has sadly happened. A foreign man has been murdered and it has been allegedly all been set-up by his Thai wife.
In summary the man meet his girl at a bar in Koh Samui and fell in love. She is 27 and he was 48. He has done everything for her buying a home for her parents and he bought her an SUV. And while some Western men gave their wives an allowance, he gave his love, access to all his bank accounts.
He has given her everything but it didn’t seem enough as a conversation about a million dollar life insurance (32 million baht) made his wife greedy. Police have said that she arranged her Thai lover (yes, all these Thai bargirls have Thai men or girls as lovers) and her uncle to murder him.
The group was so stupid that they used text messages; don’t they know how easy these are traced? This is what some said according to police. "Do it tonight, uncle", while a later one allegedly advised him to "behave normally at the cremation".
This guy’s brother said he was just the nicest guy and I believe this and he said he was too trusting and generous. He’s not the first foreigner to be done over like this.
I am not going to pigeon hole all “bar girls” but many are in the trade for one thing only and that is money. No matter how much they get, they want more and more. If you meet a bargirl and fall in love, don’t show them all the money in your room safe or give them the combination. Don’t brag about the money you have.
I am sure there are many success stories out there where guys have met bargirls and all has gone well, I just haven’t read them. All I read is the opposite, usually. Maybe some readers can testify to a decent bargirl. This would be a fresh breath of air.

I was also wondering why it took the Thai English language press so long to mention this case, which has been ocvered extensively by the Canadian press for over a week. Is it backlash from the recent murder of a Canadian in Pai, and now they are somewhat gun shy? MJ. Yes, he sounds like he was taken hook, line and sinker. Love does horrible things to lonely people and makes them think that love is pouring money on people. There are so many stories out there on this topic, not many bargirls change from what I have read.
Hi Carl. It did take a while to be reported in the English newspapers here. It was in a Thai paper earlier in the week. Thanks for the kind comments on my blog and I look forward to discovering yours in the next few days when time permits. It’s a shame this came just after Leo was murdered. Not good for Thai and Canadian relations.
