The other day on the public holiday, in the afternoon I took Noot for another driving lesson at the lake. We went for our drive and when going past John’s house we noticed his car there and stopped. After an hour of chatting and looking around he asked us to a little restaurant down the road that he wanted to try.

It is a garden restaurant set on the bank of the lake.

It has a real rustic feel to it with lots of timber benches and other odd looking things about the place.

This is looking out of the restaurant and the glare of lights coming off the lake.
I like this table a lot.

A dark stained piece of timber, with a glass top. The chairs need a good recoating of varnish though. Sadly the table’s legs didn’t match the top.
This was the fountain in the restaurant.

The whole thing had a foreign feel to it but we found out the owner is Thai and just spends a lot of time in Europe.

The fish in the pond part of the fountain are well looked after and of very good size.

Look out you might end up on the table tonight! Not really.

The grass was immaculately clipped and the garden beds spotless.

And the White Stallion rearing was an interesting addition to the garden.

John really liked this horse drawn cart and wants one for his garden at his house.

Being a lovely night we picked a table in the open.

Next, it was up to the girls to figure out what to eat.

We had a clear view of the lights reflecting off the lake.

The first dish was a ripper. It was a shellfish in a cream sauce with cheese and mushrooms. It was delicious.

Then a chicken and cashew dish with vegetables in an oyster sauce. Also a winner.
A baked fish was next to appear;

it wasn’t from the pond. It was very nice as well. It was covered in a chili sauce and garlic.
And on a chilly Isaan night, a spicy

chicken soup was just the thing to warm the bones. I prefer the seafood style but this was very nice as well and pretty spicy to boot.
So that was a new restaurant that we have found and will definitely be back. The food, 4 bottles of beer and 2 buckets of ice came to just under 600 baht; very good for the quality of service and food offered.
As I said, it’s tuff in Isaan at times.

Franky. I have your email and will contact you before this weekend. A promise mate.
Star, It is a good restaurant and I am going to go there with a guy and his family who are visiting from the UK this weekend.
Star, Can I ask you to please stop writing horrible stuff to Rachel on her blog. She writes really nice stuff and doesn't have a bad bone in her body.
If you want to write horrible things to me, that's okay as it is water off a ducks back but Rachel takes it personally.
So please Star can you stop doing that. If you do make it to Ubon let me know and I will take you to the place for a beer and a feed.
