Thailand. Hearty home cooked meals in Isaan Country.

My lovely Noot was in the Kitchen again last night. We had lots of fresh vegetables ready to be cooked. There was carrot, onion, pumpkin, lettuce, cauliflower, Chinese kale, mushroom and celery. The meat was beautiful pork fillet.

Miss Noot getting things ready to go. Now I maybe a little biased but man she can really cook.

Benjawan was helping out a little and emptying the last of the filtered bottled water for drinking and cooking. I have read that tap water is meant to be fine to drink but when you see the colour of it when we fill our large holding tank in the bathroom I will never be drinking it. There is always sand in it that settles in the bottom of the tank.
Noot was slicing the pork fillet ready to fry up.

Pork fillet mince meat. This is to make little balls in the soup she was preparing.

The sauces tonight were a Soya sauce, fish sauce and rot de moo which is a powder flavour enhancer and it’s sort of like stock cubes. Also some salt, pepper and also sugar were placed into the electric pan.

The cooking started and the aroma was good.

What? All Thais paint on the floor in the kitchen squatting like that!

The finished meals were fried pork with vegetables and a delicious sauce and a vegetable and pork soup.

Accompanying these two dishes were boiled eggs, chicken thighs with tofu and a sweet sauce. It wasn’t cooked by us but bought from the supermarket on special at 10baht.

I am really enjoying the home cooked meals. Life’s tuff, I can tell you that much.

Brunty.
