Thailand. Grilling in the outdoor kitchen.

I said I was going to cook and grill more and I have been doing just that. I have really enjoyed cooking some meals out the back in our outdoor kitchen. The other night I ventured over to Big C and bought some pork ribs and pork loin to grill. I simply marinated the meat in a thing called Rot De Moo in Thai and is a pork flavour enhancer that is very popular here in Thailand. I added some of the Rot De Moo, pepper, salt, honey and Soya sauce and left to marinade for 3o minutes while I prepared everything else.

I went out and lit the coal in the griller and then returned to peel the vegetables for the steamer. Noot has become a steamed vegetable fan. When I cook vegetables she always wants them this way. Tonight we had a good variety of our favourites fresh from the market. I buy our meat at the supermarket because the market vendors have the meat sitting on cardboard shooing flies away with a stick. I stick to well refrigerated meat.

So the vegetables were steaming very slowly.

The meat was grilling away as well.

Some of the meat was just about ready to be taken inside. Noot makes a really delicious dipping sauce from lime juice, sugar and salt, fish sauce and of course chili. She adds some fresh herbs and I can tell you it’s a winner. I am going to pictures of her making it next time.

It was a good and healthy meal that didn’t take too long to prepare. By the time I ventured inside after getting the last of the meat grilling I was greeted by to girls gobbling the meat away that had been cut into pieces and being shoved into their mouths very quickly. I quickly sat down and tucked in myself and forgot to get shots of the finished product.

Never mind though, it’s a good excuse for me to grill again this weekend maybe and get those missing pictures I should have taken.

Brunty.

Yes, I know the excuse was pretty bad but sadly true. I went into the house and seen the meat being devoured by the girls and dug in myself.

As you said greasy fingers and having to wash them and get the camera from outside went by the wayside.

I will get the making and recipe of the dipping sauce this week as I am planning on doing some grilling.

I look forward to your the photos of your grilling session.
