Thailand. Why do things keep breaking down?

Man, I have had a run of bad luck the last few weeks. I have been trying to upload pictures to my blogger blog. The current post I am working on and now finished has 35 odd pictures in it about a trip to a place called Mukdahan in Far North East Thailand.

We went there for the end of the Buddhist Lent and had a good day shopping and stuff and I took many pictures of the day.

The problem started on Tuesday when I finally got around to writing about the day and trying to upload the pictures to the blog. I kept receiving error messages from Google saying this error had occurred again and again. In a 2 hour period I managed to upload 5 pictures, so I gave up on that night. The same happened again on Wednesday night but was able to upload about 20 pictures.

Then last night being Thursday I tried again and the picture uploads worked fine. I finished uploading the remaining pictures and was cutting and pasting the story from Microsoft Word to the post, when all of a sudden a cracking and zapping noise started coming from my monitor.

I stood up very quickly and seen blue sparks coming from the back of the monitor so quickly turned it off at the safety switch. The computer is only 1 year and 2 months old. So I am a little pissed. I rang the guy, a Thai friend I bought it all from, as last month the DVD burner stopped opening and it was 2 weeks out of warranty and the company of course would fix it or replace it and now the fuc*ing monitor.

I was really angry when he told me the monitor had only a 1 year warranty as well and actually went a little over the top by saying the shit he has sold me is crap and I told him I was very pissed at him for this.

Now I am trying to contact the company he actually bought the monitor from and I am having it now checked to see if it is worth fixing at another place and also checking if it really is a genuine LG product or if I was taken for a ride.

If the monitor turns out to be a copy I am going to go ballistic and my so called friend will be in for the shock of his life and also the shop where he bought it from. I am hoping that nothing else decides to stop working in the near future be it electrical or human as in my heart!

Apart from these problems everything else is okay. I am back at work now; it is actually good to be back doing something. Things at the school have changed a little bit as always with every small holiday we have.

The Director always sees these breaks as a chance to renovate something at the school and this 4 week break was the same. I personally don’t see the sanity to some of the renovations but again he is being lead by God whereas I am being led by my shabby and blurry old eyes. All the cutting down of trees and ripping this and that out must have come from the man upstairs in a form of a vision as anyone in their sane mind wouldn’t do some of them otherwise, I think.

I hope to have my monitor back in the next couple of days, I have asked the place to look at it first and give a ‘quote’ to fix it and if it is more than a quarter of the price I will go and buy a new flat screen from Tesco, Big C or Buy Comp or somewhere like that.

So sorry about the posting and I hope to be up and running very soon.

Have a good weekend to my readers and friends in the WWW.

Hi Jason,
Man ya you have had a run of bad luck with stuff breaking! My computer has held out now for about 20 months. I think it's time that the LOS humidity drowns it. I regularly back my stuff up, thinking about that day... and that it's coming soon.
Hey - I wanted to let you know - your blog doesnt have google pagerank... login to your google account, personal page and click the webmaster tools. Somewhere in there is an option to request reinclusion or review of your site - they'll fix it and you'll get pagerank again and get all the traffic back you had when you were with TP. Or most. Has it stopped raining up there yet? Man I'm missing good som tam bla-rah... someday... someday... Peace my friend.

Hey Vern. Yes I have been a little unlucky lately but then again things can only get better, right?

The last time the robot crawled my site was the 12th of August and there were some dead links that I am cleaning up now.

The page rank will come with time I guess, so I will keep plugging away and posting the same crap I always do.

It has stopped raining, but now it is windy as hell and bloody cold.

As for the somtam bla-rah I will get Noot to make you a special batch with maggots and all next time we cross paths my friend.

Take it easy champ.

Hey Vern. Yes, real Isaan girls their fish sauce or Narm Bpla is disgusting. The last batch that we got from the village near Khong Chiam had maggots crawling in it.

I thoughtt disgusting but Noot and Co didn't care and are very happy when they make their somtam now.

I stick to the traditional store bought fish sauce. I posted a picture somewhere of the maggot ridden fish sauce in one of the village report blogs.

Absolutely horrible.

I am with you I am a big fan of somtam when made right.
