Thailand. Drunk Police Officer Chases Garbage Men with a Knife.

You have to love Thailand. I always get a good laugh especially when I get to read funny stories like this.

A Thai deputy police inspector has been charged with assaulting garbage collectors while drunk. He is facing charges of assaulting, insulting and obstructing fellow police officers who were performing their duties and trying to calm him down and then arrest him.

He is also looking at charges for carrying a knife to attack others, being drunk and causing chaos. Doesn’t he sound like one of Thailand’s finest men in brown?

I know a few policemen as I run with 3 or 4 every afternoon in the local park and I can tell you they don’t mind a drink or 10 and then get behind the wheel and drive. Not these police friends but some others who I have met.

He was charged after a garbage collector made a complaint about the drunken officer attacking them.

The garbage collectors were working in a street at 6am. It’s alleged the officer who appeared to be intoxicated, got out of his car and accused them of causing traffic congestion. Good to see he starts early on the rice wine and whatever else but more than likely would have been from the night before.

The officer then started a quarrel and physically attacked them before pulling out a knife to chase the garbage collectors. Okay so he was drunk and crazy. The garbage men ran to a local police station for help.

When the police took the officer to the police station they said he verbally abused them and tried to resist arrest.

Never mind as commander of Metropolitan Police Bureau division 1, yesterday set up a “fact-finding panel” to look into the case. He ordered the drunken officer to perform office duties for 30 days pending investigation.

If the drunk is found guilty, he will face both disciplinary and criminal action, said the division chief.

I love stories like this they really like my day.
Brunty.
