Karaoke. Philipphines Take it very Seriously. It Might even Kill You.

In the Philippines they take their karaoke seriously. Even here in Thailand karaoke bars are very popular as there are usually lots of young girls scantily dressed and the older and younger Thai men love this. I have heard many people break out into terrible ear shattering renditions of songs and you wish that they would stop or the power might go out.

In the Philippines however they get really upset. A man was in a karaoke bar and was belting out a tune to the best of his ability but obviously it wasn’t too good. A security guard from the club approached him during the middle of his song and yelled at him saying he was out of tune.

The man continued and ignored the security guard, so the guard pulled out his revolver and shot him dead. Yes, shot him fair square in the chest.

The article goes on to say that deaths are common over people singing out of tune and wrecking renditions of songs. It also said that Old Blue Eyes, Mr. Frank Sinatra’s song ‘My Way’ has been taken off many karaoke bars in Manila after it was found to be the cause of fights and even deaths when patrons sang out of tune.

Thankfully I haven’t witnessed this here in Thailand. Sometimes I am sure people must have thought about shooting someone as I have heard screaming worse than 2 cats fighting.
So if you travel to the Philippines and you go to a karaoke bar and you cannot sing, then I recommend you don’t try too. Brunty
