My beautiful and lovely girlfriend is angry with me. Why? Because I didn't go to the local market to buy stuff to make our brunch (breakfast/lunch). I taught some students in the morning from 8:00am until 10:00am and then did some work, clean the kitchen, clean the fish tanks tidy the house.
My lovely girlfriend washed the clothes (in the washing machine not by hand). After I had finished my jobs I sat down on the computer and did some work for next terms school year, resourced some worksheets and lesson plans to coincide with the curriculum. I also wrote some blogs and updated some things in my site.
The love of my life had finished what she was doing had a shower and got dressed. She then asked if I was going to the market with her which I politely said "sorry, I am busy" and off she went. No hint of being angry.
After she got home she prepared what she had bought and then cooked our brunch. She called out that lunch was ready and out I went to eat lunch in the living room (on the floor on a straw mat, we don't use the dining room table). I quickly came to realise that she wasn't happy after trying to speak with her and I got the cold shoulder in return.
I know that here in Thailand it is better just to sit very quietly and finishing doing whatever you are doing than asking "what's the matter? Are you angry? ETC...
I understand that maybe I have spent a little too much time on the computer and at the golf course but also with all her friends going back to their homes as the university year has finished she has few friends to talk too and visit or come over and visit.
I have realised this and need to pay a little more attention over the holidays as she is too polite to come out and just say anything (Back in Australia you would know exactly what the problem was and red ears to match). All Thai people are like this even if you were putting someone out or making them uncomfortable they always say things are okay, everything is alright.
So I better get offline and spend a little quality time with my partner and maybe it could be a trip to the local shopping centre or even a movie at one of the cinema's. What ever we do will be fine as long as my girlfriend is happy then I am happy.
